Dr. Ted Corbould
Do you find your relationship not going well these days, feel lost in life, or are filled with endless stress and anxiety? Dr. Ted can help. Problems are a part of life, but how can you better deal with them? Evidence-based practice and psychotherapies can assist. However, how to start finding the best course of action for your issues? Dr. Ted begins by assessing the person’s biological, social, and physical aspects. This is important because problems can be complex, impacting the many parts of a person. As a result, an integrative approach that includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, Gottman couples therapy, and psychodynamic approaches may be used.
His experience, education, and counseling approach are significant factors in helping his patients. His counseling experience includes 25 years of working with youth and adults. Born and raised in Canada and living 20 years in Asia, he has been exposed to a diverse clientele and problem base. He has seven academic credentials, including counseling, psychology, sociology, and education, allowing a comprehensive assessment and treatment protocol. Sessions are done in a supportive and educational manner, allowing patients to learn and acquire valuable skills and tools to help solve problems, improve resiliency and confidence, and live better lives. In effect, he wishes to foster the ability of the patient to be their own counselor. His specialties include couples, addiction, stress and anxiety, depression, anger, and personal development.
Dr. Ted enjoys a healthy lifestyle, including biking, powerwalking, weight training, and stairclimbing. He also enjoys travel, having visited 63 countries and intending to see 100. Education is vital to him; thus, he has created a YouTube channel that provides psychoeducation on common mental health issues (see links on the homepage). He enjoys giving back to the community and accomplishes this by volunteering at the Shanghai International Mental Health Association. As a board member, he promotes mental health care in Shanghai and has done so for nearly a decade.
