Dr. Ted Corbould
Are you struggling in your relationship, feeling lost in life, or dealing with endless stress and anxiety? Dr. Ted can help. Problems are a part of life, but how can you better deal with them? Evidence-based practice and psychotherapies can assist. However, how do you start finding the best course of action for your issues? Dr. Ted begins by assessing the person’s biological, social, and physical aspects. This is important because problems can be complex, impacting many parts of a person. As a result, an integrative approach that includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, Gottman couples therapy, and psychodynamic approaches may be used.
Dr. Ted has 25 years of counseling experience working with youth and adults. Born and raised in Canada and living 20 plus years in Asia, he has been exposed to a diverse clientele and problem base. He has eight academic credentials, including counseling, psychology, sociology, education, and mediation & conflict resolution, allowing a comprehensive assessment and treatment protocol. Sessions are done in a supportive and educational manner, allowing patients to learn and acquire valuable skills and tools to help solve problems, improve resiliency and confidence, and live better lives. The ultimate goal is to allow the person to reach a place where they can resolve their issues without further assistance or intervention. His specialties include couples, addiction, stress and anxiety, depression, mediation (divorce and personal) and conflict resolution, and personal development.
Dr. Ted enjoys a healthy lifestyle, including biking, power walking, weight training, and stair climbing. He also enjoys travel, having visited 74 countries and intending to see 100. Education is vital to him; thus, he has created a YouTube channel that provides psychoeducation on common mental health issues (see links on the homepage). He enjoys giving back to the community and has been volunteering at the Shanghai International Mental Health Association as a board member for over a decade, promoting mental health care in Shanghai.
